Kudos to Bala on a very "thought over" blog which encaptured just about every thought and emotion a passionate Indian cricket fan has gone through in the past few days. The atmosphere while watching the match today was such that it would be an understatement if to call it Electric. It had it all; frantic prayers, the very common " You sit on the couch, Sachin hits a four", " Bala, pls dont smoke; when you smoke a wicket falls" , the "expletive a sentence " one liners et al . I completely agree with Bala that watching the match at Andy ( Anirudha's ) place with the girls was a relevation. For once watching the match was a no-nonsense affair with just unbriddled passion for the game. At least , we didnt have to endure the ignominy of our fellow Indians ridiculing the game-style of greats( read Gods) like Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman. Sanity was restored into the proceedings with the presence of genuine cricket fans who had a knowledge of the game, were rational in their expectations and more importantly, tolerant; unlike jerks we have come across who want every ball to be hit for a six or a four, who regard a person hitting 110/130 balls slow and want him dropped and whose absolutely minimal or almost non existing "grey cells" make it hard for them to fathom that Rahul Dravid is a boon for the team. Being a person who does not get easily excited while watching close finishes in cricket( that does not in any way reduce my passion for the game), I was moved by people like Bala, Vishal and the girls Uttara, Poorva and Aarti who openly expressed their unstoppable excitement , were really tensed that they almost seemed short of breath while watching the game. I really started feeling the heat when Balaji and Powar were putting up that last but most spirited fight that I needed a few deep breaths to regain my composure. Though, we lost todays match by coming agonisingly close to the Paki total, we can clearly say that the "Never say die" attitude instilled into the boys by John Wright and Sourav Ganguly has metamorphised this unit into an extremely professional one. Finally the real low of the day was an absolutely idiotic , non-patriotic, treacherous, and ridiculous comment got as an SMS on Balajis cell phone from his friend. It said " Balaji..my condolences for India getting sodomised in the match". Though Balaji immediately called and blasted him with expletives , I would like to give my comment on this. The person has disgraced his mother's womb!
