Sympathy for the underdog
Well, if you havent read the news yet , this is the piece that prompted me to think bt this question and here I go.
Bangladesh beat Australia .. and it really felt great.
Why do we all have this sympathy for the underdog ?
Why does a Bangladesh win over Australia feel great ?
Why does a Liverpool win over AC Milan feel great ?
Why is a Greece victory over Portugal so heartening ?
Most people when asked say that It is good to see somebody work so hard and make it to the top. Is it just that or is there more ? Because the losers (Australia, AC Milan, Portugal) have probably worked equally hard to become what they are... the favorites.
Well, one answer I would volunteer is ... we all live under a constant feeling of supression , a feeling where we constantly feel and know that there is somebody better than us no matter what area/topic we consider. And when we see a underdog winning, we get that joy because we ourselves lit up our hope again that there might be a chance for us afterall.
Any other opinions ?

I partly agree with ur point Marwadi (well he clarified that he was the one wrote the numerous blogs in a short span). I wud like to add that a champion player/team winning constantly is like a mundane routine. People like changes, always a soft corner for rags to riches (metaphorically an underdog) stories. Not everyone gets a sense of being supressed.
